The Memory of Destruction

The Music Centre proposes the reconstruction of an essential piece of a Jesuit hacienda that was destroyed after an earthquake and reprogrammes the site as a cultural hub for the rural communities. The project behaves as an orthosis that completes the 400 years old complex and reinterprets the atmosphere of the lost building to recover its lights and shades, its textures, its natural soundscape, its proportions and scale using a contemporary language.
